I haven’t really posted on what has been going on in our lives (well besides dancing and ruining my gas tank). Last Monday, we buried my Great Uncle Floyd “Hoppy” Harper. He had been sick for a couple of days, but unfortunately his body wasn’t strong enough to fight the infection.
A little about this man Uncle Hoppy is what we all called him: I really don’t know why they called him Hoppy….need to get the whole story for my grandpa sometime. He was my mom’s uncle, her dad’s brother, and one great guy. I don’t really remember much of him when I was little; it wasn’t until I got older that I came to know a little more about him. He was very nice and loved children. I guess he needed too, to survive his 8 nieces (my mom and her sisters). He is a Vietnam War Veteran. He had a military funeral services. At the burial there were several veterans that were there for honors ceremony: Which includes the Flag folding, Flag presentation to his brothers, and the playing of Taps (which is the song that is performed with the bugle, in our case a recording), and the gun salute. I got very emotional just to think that they (the veterans) were there to salute and show their respects to their fellow soldier (veteran).
The rest of the week was calm and relaxing. Friday we were to have company for supper (baked spaghetti), they were unable to come to due to last minute circumstances, which is okay, we just played and watched Hannah Montana.
Then Saturday, my mom, my girls, and I went to Vincennes to take back some shoes and did some shopping, while Matt went to the Buggy Bowl.
Then Sunday after church we headed to my parent’s house to visit with my family. Grant made Lasagna (he is such a good cook). Unfortunately we didn’t stay to eat it (don’t worry I took carry out), because we went to Matt’s parents’ for pizza with his family (we have missed their Sunday suppers for a couple of weeks, so we thought we needed to be there last night). We don’t really get to see much of Rob, Greta, and Brynnlee, so it was fun to watch B and Izabelle playing together…well lets just say, they love wanting what the other one has, which is what we all did when we were little. Izabelle is usually the rough one and making someone else cry, but last night she was the one getting the rough end of the deal. But I don’t think Izabelle even had a clue what was going on, because she didn’t let out a holler or cry, so apparently B wasn’t too rough with her. At the end of the night, they were best friends giving hugs and kisses to one another…Ah!!!
Now it is beginning of a new week and boy are we hoping for some SNOW…enough to keep us home:)
Until Next Time…
God Bless…
Jess
