Front Page News

This is a long post, so please Brrr with me (get it, Brr because its cold outside, I just crack myself up sometimes) Anyway, What an exciting week the Gingerich's had. With the snow keeping us home for a couple of days, to making the front page of our local newpaper. Here is what happened: Over the weekend Matt sent me a picture of a duck in the local newspaper. I looked at the picture and I thought, "it couldn't be", so I gave the phone to Grace for her to look at and she said "Yup, it's Moey the MoeyHawk". The newspaper ran a picture of a duck with a strange feathers on top of his head, somewhat like a mohawk. So, on Monday I sent an email to the editor and she forwarded it on to the lady that first ran the story on Saturday. Well, she called me on Monday to get a few more details, so I just thought that they were just curious and didn't think anymore of it. Until I called Matt on Tuesday to see if the roads are clear and he said "Nope, but I am reading something very interesting about a duck". What, we made the paper.
He said that our story was on the front page along side Moey the Moeyhawk's picture. For some of you, you probably are thinking, "it couldn't be", "how do you know". To answer your question: We just know. The feather pattern is the same, even the placement of the Mohawk is the same, and just the way he looks we could just tell it was once our family pet.
If you do not get the Washington Times Herald here is the link with our story: http://www.washtimesherald.com/archivesearch/local_story_026211423.html
Also, here are some pictures of the girls with Moey the MoeyHawk duck when we first got him:

I have other pictures of Moey the day we took him to Matt's uncle's house. It was bittersweet, since he was truly part of our family. The days that Moey was up in Bramble, he spent following Matt's uncles choring and fishing. When we heard that he went missing we were sad and didn't think we would see him again, until I saw a picture on Facebook of a duck with a mohawk. I was shocked...Matt swore that it wasn't him until I brought a picture back and he couldn't get over the resemblance, but Grace and I were sure it was him. He made a home away from home with his little duck friends and now everyone can enjoy Moey the MoeyHawk duck.
Here are some pictures of the girls playing in the snow. Izabelle didn't really know what to think of the snow. She was very careful when walking and when she fell to her knees she cried for help. Grace, well she just took off running and went start to making snow angels. We didn't have any snow attire, so we improvised and made our own with extra, extra layers of clothes and alot of Daddy's socks over boots.

I laughed and meant to comment on this yesterday after I saw the paper. I was like hey.. I know her. Too funny! I saw Moey all spring/summer and felt bad for the guy thinking he had a brain tumor! I guess he is just special!

I love your duck story!! Thanks for sharing. We don't get the paper so I wouldn't have seen it if you hadn't posted on it. I bet Gracie is pretty excited that now she can go see Moey anytime!
