I am sure everyone has heard this song before "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe. From the first time I heard this song, I was drawn in by the words. I to can only imagine what it would be like when I first meet Jesus. Since becoming a Dance Coach I have always wanted to do a dance to a song that was inspiring and captivated the audience. Well this year the opportunity presented itself. The last couple of months have been hard for the members of this community. Some of them losing a loved one, going through financial hardship, or other hardships. This community has such great faith, even in the midst of tragedy or hardship they look up to the Lord for comfort, guidance, and love that makes me glad to be part of this community. They come together to support one another during these times.
When I started the worship dance for the Wittmers, I thought well the Vikettes needed to do something like this too. So, I had my Senior Vikettes dance Tuesday Night to "I Can Only Imagine" during the boys basketball game. I was very nervous and so were the girls. I didn't know how the audience would react. The song began and I could feel in the air a sort of confusion of "what's this?". The audience has never seen this before. As I sat there watching my girls, like a proud momma, I am...I started to watch the crowds reaction. There were still, quiet, and intrigued. I didn't know if this was a good or bad reaction. But when the music was over, a LOUD applause and joyous yells erupted from the audience. I had the BIGGEST smile on my face and I have to admit I kind of got teary eyed. The girls came off the floor, saying "How was it", "Did it look good". Of course I said "yes", but also said that I have never heard the crowd this way before.
When I left, I had people saying to me "Thanks", "I liked it", "That was good", "It made me want to get up and Worship". Wow!!! All I could think of was, we just needed this. We needed to be reminded that Jesus is with us and I am sure he can't wait for us to meet him one day. And for the loved ones that left this world before us, well they don't have to imagine anymore, they have met their Savior Jesus Christ. Now, we just wonder if they danced, stood still, or simply sang "Alleluia".
Below is the video of the Senior Vikettes dancing to "I Can Only Imagine".
Enjoy:)
God Bless...
Jess

That was nice!! I wish I could've seen it in person, but that video was good too :) Beautiful song, beautiful dance!
Love the song! And the girls did great! It's so nice that you can have a Christian song still at a public school function! Praise God!
WAY TO GO JESS!! Love what you are doing with your dance and the dance team at BR! I know that dance used to get a bad wrap in a conservative community but I think what you are doing with the program and the girls is awesome!! Are you doing any fund raiser type thing where the little girls can dance with the team?? My two little girlies would love doing something like that! Just a thought! Keep up the good work!
LOVE IT LOVE IT... Wish is could have been there!! Once again, I must not be emotionally stable, I had to cry...
Thanks girls...I have a great group of girls, they are up for anything.
Susie- To answer your question, yes we are planning on having a Dance Clinic for grades K-8. We don't know what songs we are doing, probably something w/ Hannah Montana and/or High School Musical, I think the date will be Jan. 30th.
Jessica,
That is so cool what you did with your dance team. You have a lot of faith to do that at a basketball game! I did a ribbon dance to this song for a chrysalis a few years back. The song is neat to dance to because it is so powerful. Keep it up!
What a great job!! I know what you mean about our community having a lot of faith. It seems like it keeps growing around here....or that is what I think:)
Beautiful.
awesome.
I loved it Jess, it brought tears to my eyes....what an awesome platform you have to spread the Word!!
